What is intraday trading

What intraday trading is, how it differs from long-term investing and what risks it carries.

Intraday trading means opening and closing trades within the same trading session, without keeping positions open overnight.

It looks for short price moves, of minutes or hours. In exchange for not taking on the risk of overnight news or opening gaps, it requires staying alert during the session and acting fast.

It is a high-risk activity: each trade wins or loses little, and commissions and slippage weigh more than in long-term investing. That's why trading with a stop loss and fixed rules is key.

At Reversal Club, all trades are intraday: they are opened while the New York stock exchange is open and closed before the session ends. We watch NASDAQ stocks on 1-minute charts.
